Gujarat Titans' opener Shubman Gill got the orange cap after hitting century vs MI in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2023.

Gujarat Titans (GT) opener Shubman Gill spoke about his outstanding IPL 2023 season where he reigns supreme on the most runs scored charts at no.1 and is the proud owner of the Orange Cap.

Gill, who moved to GT on the sidelines of the IPL 2022 auction, had a decent outing in that season as well, as he scored more than 483 runs to help GT become the champions in their debut season itself.

However, in the IPL 2023, he has taken his game several levels higher as he has made 851 runs to his name in 16 matches with three centuries and 4 fifties to his name at an average of 60.79 and a strike rate of 156.43. He has hit 78 fours and 33 sixes so far in the tournament.

He became only the fourth batter in IPL history to hit two consecutive centuries in the tournament after Shikhar Dhawan, Jos Buttler, and Virat Kohli.

He recently scored his third century of the season to help Gujarat Titans defeat the Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 to put his team into the final of the IPL 2023.

Talking to News18.com, Shubman Gill spoke about his tremendous performance but said that he feels the work is not done yet.

“It’s been great, and very fortunate, I thank the universe. But every time, like today, I have this feeling that the job is not done yet. Every time I perform and do well the next morning, I have this feeling that the job is not done yet. Once IPL finishes, the World Test Championship start. Once WTC is over, Asia Cup will be there.

Once Asia Cup is over, you’ll be like ‘Oh, the World Cup is here’. So there is always something in my mind that I look forward to and (feel) the job is not done yet. But it’s been a great year so far for me and I’m really fortunate and really happy for that," Shubman Gill told News18.

"Busy is the way of life, isn't it?"- Shubman Gill says on being asked about dubbing for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

The cricket player has had a busy summer, both on and off the pitch. In the Hindi and Punjabi versions of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Gill provides the voice of Pavitr Prabhakar, the Indian Spider-Man.

Shubman responded, "Busy is the way of life, isn't it," when asked how he balanced playing for Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023, getting ready for the ICC World Test Championship final, and dubbing for two versions of the movie.

“It’s been a busy year for me, but I don’t really consider practicing and playing as busy because that’s something that I’ve grown up with and that’s something I have been doing my whole life. It actually charges me up, but it’s been a busy year. It’s going to get busier with WTC and the World Cup coming this year and it’s going to be a really fun and exciting year for me," he added.
