Addressing the issue in a recent interview, the England captain pointed towards his extensive experience and his extraordinary record in Test cricket. Though his verse seemed a bit too proud of his abilities, it was a reasonable statement considering his expertise.
Speaking to the BBC, he said:
“I’ve played this game a long time, and I’ve always found ways of solving those problems and working it through.”
He then reflected on his remarkable Test record as evidence of his ability to adapt to when such technical struggles arise. He then added:
“There’s a reason why I’ve got 14,000 runs and a reason why I’ve played the best part of 15 years at this level.”
Joe Root currently is the second cricketer in the world to have surpassed the 14000-run milestone in Test cricket.
Unlike several other players, Joe Root’s approach has traditionally been based on making adjustments according to circumstances and conditions. Hence, Root has redefined his prime at different phases of his career.
