Jofra Archer just played five games in the IPL 2023 for the Mumbai Indians.

Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, huge speculations have surrounded around possibility of England premier fast bowler Jofra Archer potentially taking part in the upcoming cash-rich league.

For those who are unaware, Jofra Archer is currently alongside English county side Sussex, who are in Bengaluru for a 10-day pre-season camp. The county team is expected to play few practice games in Alur. Archer even turned up as substitute player for Karnataka and took two wickets during a two-day practice match as a substitute player while playing along with U19, U23 and senior Karnataka players.

However, Archer’s latest Instagram on Sunday reignited chatter around him taking part in the IPL. Archer posted several pictures on his Instagram stories and one of them was at the RCB cafe. It came just a few days before the IPL 2024 curtain raiser between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on March 22.

Archer hasn’t played any international cricket for nearly 12 months and recently he was looking in good form during the two-day practice game in Alur. Archer last played professional cricket during IPL 2023 for Mumbai Indians (MI), where he managed only two wickets in five matches.

Before the IPL 2024 mini-auction Archer was released by the five-time champions MI. Despite these setbacks, Archer’s name still looms large ahead of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, which will be played in the West Indies and the United States of America (USA) in the month of June.

The England management is carefully monitoring right-arm speedster’s progress to ensure his participation in the tournament, which is why he opted out of the IPL 2024 mini-auction.
