Jofra Archer’s last appearance for England in tests came in 2021 against India.
The England Cricket Team have unveiled their squad for the second test against the Indian Cricket Team. Premier fast bowler Jofra Archer returns to the team for the first time in four years in the longest format of the game.
Jofra Archer, who last played a test for England in 2021, is expected to be in the playing XI for the second game against India. The next match of the five-match series between the two heavyweights will take place at Edgbaston in Birmingham from Wednesday (2nd July).
Jofra Archer recently made his comeback in the FC Cricket after a while as he featured for Surrey in the game against Durham in the County Championship 2025. He looked decent with the ball and proved his fitness before being included in the England squad.
Releasing the official statement on the addition of Jofra Archer to the team, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) stated:
“The England Men’s selection panel has added Sussex fast bowler Jofra Archer to the squad for the Rothesay second Test match against India at Edgbaston, starting on Wednesday, July 2 2025.“
“The 30-year-old right-arm quick returns to the England Test set-up for the first time since February 2021 and will be looking to add to his 13 Test caps at Edgbaston next week,” the statement read.
The rest of the England squad remains the same as that was in the first test against India at Headingly in Leeds. It is expected that the Ben Stokes-led side will stick to the same combination for the second game, apart from one change, including Jofra Archer in the XI.
