Jofra Archer ruled out: MI name replacement for remainder of IPL 2023

Mumbai Indians' fast bowler Jofra Archer has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2023.

The Mumbai Indians have suffered a significant blow before their crucial match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Jofra Archer, the England fast bowler, has been ruled out for the remainder of IPL 2023 due to injury, and Chris Jordan will take his place. Despite featuring in only 5 games for Mumbai Indians, Archer has managed to secure only 2 wickets with an economy rate of 9.50. Earlier this year, Archer made his comeback to international cricket following a break of nearly two years due to elbow and back injuries that had put his career in danger.

Jofra Archer’s recovery and fitness continue to be monitored by ECB. The fast bowler will return home to focus on his rehabilitation.

Chris Jordan replaces Jofra Archer

Mumbai Indians have named Chris Jordan as a replacement for Jofra Archer. Jordan had gone unsold at the base price of Rs. 2 crore during the auction held in December last year. However, he has previously played for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, and Chennai Super Kings in IPL.

Having debuted in the IPL back in 2016, the 34-year-old Jordan has featured in 28 IPL matches and has clinched 27 wickets. The fast bowler has also played for England in 87 T20Is and has taken 96 T20I wickets.

MI faces RCB at the Wankhede Stadium

MI and RCB will play against each other in the 54th match of IPL 2023 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. MI have a record of 5 wins from 10 matches, and after losing to CSK, they aim to win against RCB to remain in the top 4 race. Similarly, RCB with 5 wins from 10 matches also wants to win against MI after losing to DC and stay in the top 4 race. Earlier this season, RCB beat MI by 8 wickets with Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli scoring high runs.
