[Watch] Jofra Archer sends stumps for a cartwheel in club game ahead of ICC T20 World Cup 2024
Jofra Archer shined with both the bat and the ball for his club.
England pacer Jofra Archer was seen in action in club cricket in Barbados as he prepares for the upcoming T20I series at home against Pakistan. Notably, Archer has also been named in Englandâs provisional squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in West Indies and the USA.
Archer has been out of cricket since 2023 and since then has been recovering and rehabbing from his injuries. He had complained of pain in his elbow during the Indian Premier League 2023, where he played a handful of matches for Mumbai Indians.
He was pulled out of the IPL 2024 auction by the ECB and only recently, Archer made his return to competitive cricket. He had traveled to India with the England squad for the World Cup 2023 as well, only as a traveling member.
Nonetheless, his T20I record, albeit modest, shows hints of his bowling skill, with 18 wickets and an economy rate of 7.65.
Jofra Archer sends stumps cartwheeling and shines with the bat as well for his club
Jofra Archer, originally hailing from Barbados, turned out for Wildey in the BCA T20 Cup Championship in Barbados and spitted fire with the ball as he sent stumps cartwheeling. He also shined with the bat as Wildey batted first and Archer hit 54 runs off a mere 20 balls, featuring 4 fours and 5 sixes.
This helped his side post a commanding score of 191/6. Then came the time for Jofra Archer to bowl and in a couple of videos floating on the internet, the England pacer terrified the club batters in the match.
Archer then showed his ability with the ball, destroying the oppositionâs batting lineup by taking three key wickets while surrendering only 16 runs.
The highlight was one delivery, the video of which went viral on social media. The video shows Archer ambling to the bowling crease and with precision, sent down a blistering offering right beyond the off-stump, capitalizing on the batterâs susceptibility to pace and movement.
The sheer velocity of the ball, combined with its tiny deviation, proved too much for the batter to handle as it slipped through his defenses. The outcome was a stunning sight as the leg stump was violently uprooted and thrown into the air.
Here is the video:
Notably, Jofra Archer was born in Barbados and had played U19 cricket for West Indies before moving to England.
