Jos Buttler suffered injury while preparing for the Hundred in July.

In a significant development, England white-ball captain Jos Buttler might miss the upcoming T20I and ODI series against Australia at home, according to reports. Both nations will first play a three-match T20I series then followed by five ODIs in the month of September 2024.

The three T20Is will be played from September 11 to September 15. The five-match ODI series between the two cricketing giants will be played from September 19 to September 29.

Jos Buttler hasn’t played any cricket since England’s semi-final exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The wicket-keeper batter sustained a calf injury while preparing for the Hundred in July, which ruled him out of the tournament.

Following his injury, the England white-ball skipper was aiming to get fully fit ahead of Lancashire’s quarter-final match against Sussex in the T20 Blast. However, Lancashire coach Dale Benkenstein confirmed that the wicket-keeper batter would not be part of the squad and is also doubtful for the upcoming home white-ball series against arch-rivals Australia later this month.

“We’ve had some bad news on his recovery. He (Buttler) had an injury he was recovering from, and he’s sort of tweaked it again. He’s not only just out of our T20s, but I think he’s even struggling to make the international ones. He was very keen to play for us,” Dale Benkenstein confirmed to BBC Radio Lancashire.
