Jos Buttler will captain England in the five-match T20I series.
England will resume white-ball cricket action when they tour the Caribbean Islands for three ODIs and five T20Is in October-November 2024. The series will start with the three-match ODI series from October 31.
The first ODI of the series will be played at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua. After losing their last ODI series against Australia at home, the “Three Lions” would be expecting a more comprehensive performance from their side. Ahead of the upcoming tour, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced England men’s squad for both of the series and provided an update on captain Jos Buttler’s injury.
Jos Buttler ruled out of ODIs
England’s white-ball captain, Jos Buttler will miss the ODI leg of the West Indies tour as he continues to recover from the calf injury. Buttler last played for England in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, 2024 semi-final against India. Despite a minor setback, Buttler is expected to join the team in Barbados for the five-match T20I series, starting on November 9.
Liam Livingstone to lead England in ODI series
With Buttler sidelined, all-rounder Liam Livingstone has been named as captain of the ODI side. Livingstone was also part of the recently-concluded ODI series between England and Australia. Livingstone will try to gain some momentum for England before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The last ODI series between the two sides was won by the West Indies with a 2-1 scoreline.
