Josh Hazlewood was given “Hazlegod” nickname by RCB fans for his performances in IPL 2025.
Australia Cricket Team player Josh Hazlewood reacted to his new nickname “HazleGod” given by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He was quick to admit that he doesn’t think it will take off in Australia.
Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood is gearing up for the final of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 against the South Africa Cricket Team. The summit clash between the two teams will be taking place at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London on 11th June (Wednesday).
Josh Hazlewood will be holding the key for Australia in the clash against South Africa. The fast bowler has been experiencing a purple patch in his career and recently played a pivotal role for RCB in their title-winning triumph in IPL 2025.
Josh Hazlewood arguably was the best bowler for RCB in the league. Due to his consistent performances in the tournament, the fast bowler got the nickname of HazleGod. He, now, reacted to it ahead of the ICC WTC 2023-25 final.
It’s flattering, obviously, to hear it around the grounds in India – Josh Hazlewood on his nickname
Josh Hazlewood called it flattering but cheekily quipped that this nickname won’t take off in Australia. Speaking to ICC, he said:
“It’s flattering, obviously, to hear it around the grounds in India, but I don’t think it will take off in Australia”.
Coming to his performances in the IPL 2025, Josh Hazlewood was the highest wicket-taker for RCB and third-highest overall. The Australia pacer bagged 22 wickets in 12 games at an average of 17.54 and an economy of 8.77.
Hazlewood is expected to be in the Australian XI for the ICC WTC 2023-25 final. With the kind of form he is in, the Pat Cummins-led side will be a threatening force to deal with. It remains to be seen if they can defend their title or not. Notably, they won the last edition as well, beating Indian Cricket Team in the final.
