"Just a beginning.."- Yashasvi Jaiswal opens up on his match-winning performance vs WI in 1st Test
Yashasvi Jaiswal was adjudged Man of the Match for his century against WI in the 1st Test in Dominica.
It was a dominating performance by Team India in the first game against a rather weaker West Indian side. It took only three days for the visitors to wrap up the game and register a win by an innings and 141 runs. The hero of the game was 21-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal. It was a dream debut for the left-hander, as he ended up winning the Man of the Match award for his superb century.
Apart from him, veteran off-spinner Ravi Ashwin played a crucial role in India's dominating performance. He took a fifer in each innings of the game and ended up with a 12-wicket haul in the match. Ashwin took 5/60 and 7/71 in the game. Apart from Jaiswal, Indian captain Rohit Sharma also made 103 runs, while Virat Kohli scored 76 runs in the first innings.

After the win, the BCCI posted a video featuring debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal, who shared his emotions of winning his first "Man of the Match" on his debut. He thanked everyone who supported him, including the team management and Rohit, and gave him a chance to play. The 21-year-old said that he was happy to contribute, and winning the MOTM was the best result he could think of.
Yashasvi Jaiswal said, "Really delighted that I got to play and most importantly that we won the match. Got the Player of the Match in the first game. It's been a long journey and I have dreamt of seeing myself play (for India) so many times. It feels really good. Hopefully, this is just the beginning and by God's grace, I hope I keep on contributing well for the team. This is going to be memorable. Thank you God and thank you guys for all your love and support. "

The 21-year-old became only the third Indian opener after Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw to score a century on his Test debut. Overall, he is the 17th Indian batter to score a debut hundred. His 171 runs are the third-highest score by an Indian on Test debut. The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma also lauded the youngster and said that he has shown great consistency in the last couple of years, which was seen in his debut. India has taken a 1-0 lead in the two Tests with a win in the first game.
