Justin Langer joined Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of IPL 2024.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are all set to part ways with head coach Justin Langer ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. According to sources, both parties have mutually agreed to leave each other.

Justin Langer, who is rated as one of the best coaches in the world cricket, joined LSG ahead of IPL 2024. The former Australian cricketer replaced Andy Flower in the role, and it was expected that he would take the team to glory under him, having been successful as the coach of the Australian Cricket Team.

However, in IPL 2024 and 2025 under him, LSG had a torrid time. They looked clueless with the bat and ball and failed to qualify for the playoffs. In the recently-concluded IPL 2025, they finished seventh in the points table, winning six and losing eight games.

Both LSG and Justin Langer have mutually decided to part ways with each other

With Justin Langer failing to make a mark in the league with LSG, the franchise has decided to part ways with him. The former Australian cricketer, however, also has been on the same page, and it is highly likely that he won’t be there for the next edition of the league.

“Both LSG and Justin Langer have decided mutually to part ways with each other ahead of IPL 2026,” a source close to developments told Khel Now.

Ahead of IPL 2025, LSG were one of the favourites to win the league, but they were let down by their injury-hit bowling attack. Also, Rishabh Pant, who was brought for INR 27 crores, was expected to lead from the front, but that didn’t happen as he failed in the entire season before slamming a century in the last match.

LSG would be keen to make a strong comeback next year. The franchise is also expected to sack Zaheer Khan, who joined the team as a mentor ahead of IPL 2025. This means that they will be looking at an overhaul in the coaching setup for next season.
