Kagiso Rabada had a great outing with the ball during GT vs MI clash of IPL 2026.
Gujarat Titans (GT) faced a crushing defeat against Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 20 in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The match turned one-sided after a late batting surge from MI. Gujarat could not recover and lost by a huge margin of 99 runs. It was one of their most disappointing results this season.
Tilak Varma was the star of the match. He scored a brilliant century and changed the game completely in Mumbai’s favour. MI were struggling early, but his innings helped them post a big total. The momentum shifted quickly, and GT bowlers had no answers in the final overs.
Despite the loss, Kagiso Rabada showed his class with the ball. The South African pacer bowled with pace and accuracy. He picked three key wickets and troubled top batters. However, his effort was not enough to stop the collapse that followed during the chase.

Kagiso Rabada later made headlines for reasons off the field. Apparently, the embarrassing loss was a big factor of concern for the South African pacer as he was caught smoking after the match. There is no official confirmation whether this viral clip is of this season or last, but it comes as shock for many fans.
This is not the first case when Rabada has come under scrutiny. Previously, he had faced a one-month suspension during IPL 2025. This came after he tested positive for a recreational drug, as stated by the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport. The pacer had briefly left the IPL season at that time as well.
The fast bowler had confirmed that he was under a provisional suspension. He shared a statement explaining that he had returned to South Africa due to personal reasons.
He then expressed regret and apologised to fans, teammates, and supporters. Rabada said he understands the responsibility of representing his country and franchise. He also thanked Cricket South Africa, Gujarat Titans, and his support team for standing by him during this period.
Notably, Rabada had promised to come back stronger and even said that this phase will not define his career. However, his smoking video speaks otherwise.
After a tough loss Gujarat Titans will hope that their ace pacer Rabada doesn’t face any charges or bans.
