Mohammad Kaif heaped praise on Yashasvi Jaiswal following his century in the 2nd IND vs WI test.

Former Indian batter Mohammad Kaif heaped massive praise on Yashasvi Jaiswal following his century in the ongoing second test between Indian Cricket Team and West Indies Cricket Team at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Jaiswal slammed a 175 runs in the first innings, registering his seventh ton in test cricket.

Jaiswal has been in a marvellous form as an opener in tests since making his debut two years ago. Out of his seven centuries, he registered 150+ scores on five occasions. In the ongoing second test between India and the West Indies, he broke batting legend Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most 150+ scores by an Indian batter before turning 24 years old in test cricket.

The 23-year-old batter also registered the record for most centuries by a left-handed opener before turning 24 years, sharing the record with former South Africa captain Graeme Smith. Jaiswal got out for 36 runs in the first test against West Indies but made a fabulous comeback in Delhi.

Cricketer-turned-commentator Kaif was impressed by the Indian opener after his performance in the Delhi test. He made a bold prediction that Jaiswal can break Virender Sehwag’s record of triple century.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Kaif wrote, “Yashasvi Jaiswal is a batsman with the patience to score big hundreds and set new marks. In his first 26 matches, his numbers are as good as Sachin’s and Virat’s. Scoring at a high strike rate, his hundreds mostly put India on the path to victory. Sehwag ka 300 wala record, Jaiswal hi todega”.

Former India opener Sehwag slammed two triple centuries in his career. His 319 runs against South Africa in 2008 is the highest individual score by an Indian batter in test cricket so far.

Meanwhile, India piled up a mammoth total of 518/5d in first innings of the Delhi test, with centuries by Jaiswal (175) and Shubman Gill (129*). Then with the ball, they ended the West Indies’s innings on 248, enforcing follow-on after taking a lead of 270.
