Karun Nair was part of the Indian side for the test series against England.

Indian Cricket Team batter Karun Nair reacted to his omission from the Indian squad for the test series against the West Indies Cricket Team. The batter didn’t make the cut into the 15-member squad that will be playing two-match series next month at home.

Karun Nair, who made a comeback into the Indian side after eight long years in the England series, failed to deliver in his first series after a while. In the four tests that he played during the tour, he amassed just 205 runs with just one fifty.

Karun Nair, who is one of the few triple centurions in test cricket, grinded hard in the domestic circuit after he was dropped from the team in 2017. For a player, who posted “Dear Cricket give me one more chance,” he got it but couldn’t do much as he scored less runs in the series, where truckloads of runs were scored.

But with the Indian Cricket Team’s management and selectors known to give players enough backing, it was expected that Karun Nair would get one more series to prove his worth. But, that wasn’t the case as he was dropped and Devdutt Padikkal was given the nod ahead.

I got a 50 when no one else scored in the first innings – Karun Nair on his snub

While talking about his omission, Karun Nair was honest to admit that he expected to be part of the team. He also was left with no words, saying that it is very difficult for him to answer.

“Yes, I did expect the selection,” Karun told TOI in an exclusive interview. “I don’t know what to say. No words. I don’t have any much comments to make. It’s very difficult for me to answer,” he said.

Karun Nair, while expressing his disappointment, pointed out that he hit a fifty in the last match he played and at a time when the team struggled. He added:

“You should probably ask the selectors what they’re thinking. Only thing is, in the last Test match also, I got a 50 when no one else scored in the first inning. So, yeah, I thought I contributed to the team and especially in the last game that we won. But yeah, it is what it is. Those things don’t matter,” a dejected Karun said.

Karun Nair now would be keen to score truckloads of runs in the domestic circuit and make his comeback again.
