KL Rahul and Keshav Maharaj’s conversation was captured in the stump mic.

During the recent third ODI between India and South Africa at Paarl, a conversation between Indian captain KL Rahul and South African cricketer Keshav Maharaj was recorded and has gone viral.

South Africa needed 297 runs to win the match and the series, but India had a firm grasp on the game by the time Maharaj stepped out to bat. Tony de Zorzi scored 81 runs and Aiden Markram 36 runs, but the chase fell apart as Washington Sundar and Avesh Khan picked up quick wickets in the middle overs.

In the end, South Africa could only manage 218 runs and lost the game by 78 runs and the series 2-1. This was only the second time India defeated them in an ODI series in their own backyard. The last time this happened was in 2018, when Virat Kohli led side won the six-match ODI series 5-1. South Africa defeated India 3-0 the last time these sides played ODI series in South Africa and Rahul was the captain then as well.

They play this song every time you come out to bat: KL Rahul tells Keshav Maharaj on ‘Ram Siya Ram’ playing in the ground

The DJ at the stadium played the ‘Ram Siya Ram’ song as Hindu cricketer from South Africa Keshav Maharaj came out to bat after Wiaan Mulder’s wicket fell. India’s captain was taken aback, so he went over to the South African spinner and asked him if DJ plays this song every time he comes out to bat.

In the video that has gone viral on the internet, KL Rahul was heard asking Keshav Maharaj: “Keshav bhai every time you come to bat they play this song.” Replying to which the Proteas spinner said: “Ya”.

Earlier, India were asked to bat first by South Africa and they put on 296/8 in 50 overs with Sanju Samson scoring 108, his maiden ODI ton and Tilak Varma making 52 and Rinku Singh scoring 38 runs.
