Coming in to bat at No. 6, KL Rahul scored 101 off 137 deliveries to take India out of trouble.

Playing in a new role, Indian middle-order batter KL Rahul has played one of the finest test knocks in his career. KL Rahul became India’s crisis manager against South Africa in the first test match played at Supersport Park in Centurion. Rahul’s six to complete his 8th test ton brought the entire Centurion crowd on its feet as he took India to 245 runs in the first innings.

Indian dressing room gave a standing ovation to the Indian middle-order batter who brought up his century in just 133 balls. Along with the Indian dressing room, fans on social media were also in a great mood and celebrated KL Rahul’s one of the best test hundred. Famous India commentator Harsha Bhogle also termed KL Rahul as a very rare talent in the game.

Rahul’s second ton in Centurion

Right-hand batter KL Rahul completed his century with a magnificent six over mid-wicket off Gerald Coztzee. South African pacer was looking to contain Rahul’s ability to rotate the strike but the Indian batter was having a good time hitting the ball hard and he took no time to complete his 8th test ton. This is Rahul’s second hundred at the Supersport Park in Centurion.

Here’s how twitter reacted to KL Rahul’s magnificent ton:

KL Rahul scored 123 runs in Centurion during India’s previous tour to South Africa in 2021-22. Rahul was playing as an opener in that series, and now as India’s crisis manager he is batting at number 6, also designated as the wicket-keeper of the lineup. KL Rahul scored 101 runs in 137 balls with 14 fours and 4 sixes in his magnificent knock in the first test.

India were under pressure at 92 for 4 when KL Rahul walked in. Soon after 10 minutes, Virat Kohli was also dismissed by Kagiso Rabada leaving India under pressure at 107 for 5. Rahul went on to add a few partnerships in the lower-order and took India to 245 in the first innings. Rahul added 43 runs with Shardul Thakur and 47 along with Mohammed Siraj.
