The International League T20 (ILT20) 2025-26 final between MI Emirates and Desert Vipers on Sunday (January 4) witnessed tensed moment with a heated altercation between Kieron Pollard and Naseem Shah. Both players engaged in a verbal fight in the second innings of the match, which took place at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

In the 11th over of the second innings, Naseem bowled his last delivery to Pollard, which the latter failed to hit. The Pakistan pacer minced a few words to the former West Indies captain after his over, which did not go well with the latter as he charged towards him.

The duo engaged in a verbal banter, with umpires and players intervening to calm down both of them. The fight on the middle of the pitch forced players like Jason Roy and on-field officials to step in and de-escalate the situation; otherwise, it looked like it could turn into a physical altercation.

The verbal altercation between Pollard and Naseem turned into one of the most talked-about moments of the encounter, with fans circulating the video of the fight on micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter).

Meanwhile, Naseem had the last laugh as he later dismissed Pollard for 28 runs, giving a big blow to MI Emirates’ chase. With his three-wicket haul, the Pakistan pacer played a key role in Viper’s victory in the encounter as they clinched their first-ever trophy in the tournament.

Speaking about the match, Vipers piled up 182/4 in the first innings with a stunning half-century by captain Sam Curran (74*). MI Emirates succumbed to the pressure in the chase, getting all out for just 136 runs with none of the batters scoring a half-century.
