KKR captain Nitish Rana fined for slow over-rate against Punjab Kings

This was the first offense by KKR team and hence minimal fine was levied on captain Nitish Rana.
As a result of his team's slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) match versus Punjab Kings at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Nitish Rana has been fined Rs. 12 lakhs.
On Monday, KKR won a thrilling match against PBKS in the last-over finish. A half-century by Nitish Rana and fiery cameos from Andre Russell and Rinku Singh helped Kolkata clinch a five-wicket win.
However, the taste of victory soured a bit for skipper Nitish Rana. According to the IPL's code of conduct on minimum over-rate offences, Rana was fined Rs. 12 lakhs because it was his team's first infraction of the season.
“Kolkata Knight Riders captain Nitish Rana has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Punjab Kings at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Rana was fined Rs. 12 lakhs,” IPL statement read.

Nitish scored 51 off of 38, Andre Russell 42 off of 23, and Rinku Singh 21 off of 10 in pursuit of 180. Rahul Chahar took two wickets for PBKS, giving up 23 runs in four overs. Each of Nathan Ellis and Harpreet Brar ejected one batter.
Shikhar Dhawan, the captain, scored a half-century earlier, while late appearances by Shahrukh Khan and Harpreet Brar helped Punjab Kings reach a respectable 179/7.
Rishi Dhawan hit a quick 19 off 11 balls, Shikhar scored 57 off 47 balls, while Jitesh Sharma played a brief cameo of 21 off 18 balls.
The pick of the bowlers for KKR was Varun Chakravarthy, who finished with 3/26 in four overs. Suyash and Nitish each grabbed one wicket, while Harshit took two.
KKR are in the fifth spot in the points table with five wins, six losses, and a total of 10 points. PBKS has slipped to the seventh position in the table with 10 points due to a low net-run rate.
