Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have signed popular names like Cameron Green and Matheesha Pathirana for IPL 2026.

One of the popular names in Indian Premier League (IPL) are the Kolkata Knight Riders. Co-owned by Shah Rukh Khan, they are amongst the successful sides in the tournament. KKR’s title defence did not go as planned in IPL 2025 as they managed to win just five games and finished at eighth spot in points table.

KKR struggled to have a stable opening partnership throughout the season, trying different players. In the middle order, Venkatesh Iyer failed to impress and KKR visibly missed their former captain Shreyas Iyer’s impact in the middle overs.

The West Indian duo of Sunil Narine and Andre Russell’s also struggled at some stages, which was one of the reasons KKR struggled. After this woeful performance they let go some of their big name players like Venkatesh Iyer and Andre Russell, with the later retiring from the IPL.

In the IPL 2026 auction, the three time champions revamped their squad, signing star players like Cameron Green and Matheesha Pathirana and Finn Allen for big money. KKR have also signed West Indian Rovman Powell as they look to replace Andre Russell.

With Abhishek Nayar back in the coaching ranks, KKR will look to make a positive start to the new season. With familiar faces in the dugout, the three time champions will look to make a statement.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) open their IPL 2026 campaign with a match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. After that, they will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad at their home venue in Eden Gardens. Their next two matches will be against Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants.
