KKR likely to trade Venkatesh Iyer for Ishan Kishan with SRH for IPL 2026- Reports

KKR bought Venkatesh Iyer for Rs. 23.75 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are likely to trade their middle-order batsman Venkatesh Iyer to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for Ishan Kishan ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The three-time champions bought Iyer for Rs. 23.75 crore during the 2025 mega auction.

Iyer delivered a dismal performance in IPL 2025. The left-handed batsman mustered 142 runs across seven innings at an average of 20.29. He scored a half-century in one game but got out cheaply in other encounters.

On the other hand, Kishan mustered 354 runs for SRH in IPL 2025. The left-handed batsman had a strike rate of 152.58 and also hammered a century and a half-century in the tournament. SRH bought Kishan for Rs. 11.25 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction.

KKR to trade Venkatesh Iyer with SRH- Reports

According to reports by Mykhel, KKR are in talks with SRH to trade Iyer for Kishan. However, neither franchise has made any official statement on the matter. If this trade happens, it will be one of the notable swaps for IPL 2026 involving two big players. Notably, Iyer and Kishan were among the costliest players for both teams during the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Meanwhile, both KKR and SRH had a poor outing in IPL 2025. Led by Ajinkya Rahane, KKR won only five games and lost seven matches out of 14 games. Two matches ended with no result. They finished in the eighth spot in the points table with 12 points.

Pat Cummins-led SRH won six games and lost seven matches out of 14 encounters. One match ended with no result. With 13 points, SRH ended in the sixth spot in the points table. SRH and KKR were the finalists of the IPL 2024 season, which saw the Kolkata-based franchise lifting their third title.
