Lucknow Super Giants have won three matches in the ongoing IPL 2024 so far.
In match No. 28 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be donning their green and maroon jersey against in-form Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 13. The exciting clash will take place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The match will start at 3:30 p.m.
KL Rahul-led LSG are having decent run in the ongoing IPL 2024 season. The Super Giants have won three of the five games they have played so far. However, in their last encounter against the Delhi Capitals, they lost the match by six wickets in Lucknow.
Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer-led KKR is having a dream run in the IPL 2024 so far. They have won three out of four matches they’ve played so far. Their only loss came against defending champions CSK by seven wickets.
Why Lucknow Super Giants will don different jersey against KKR?
LSG will play their next match against KKR in their green and maroon jersey, which is inspired by the legendary Indian football club, Mohun Bagan Super Giant.
The decision to switch to a new jersey is because both teams have the same principal owner i.e. Sanjeev Goenka. Both the IPL side LSG and the Indian Super League (ISL) team Mohun Bagan are owned by the Kolkata-based firm, RP Sanjiv Goenka Group (RPSG).
The RPSG group acquired the LSG franchise when the IPL expanded to 10 teams in 2022.
Here is a look at LSG jersey for KKR clash:
In the IPL 2023 season, the Lucknow management announced that this jersey will honor the legacy of Mohun Bagan and their legendary history in Indian football. In 2023 edition, the Super Giants donned Mohun Bagan jersey against KKR at the Eden Gardens, where LSG clinched the match by one run.
