The KKR vs MI match has been affected by rain in the first innings.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are squaring off with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 65th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Wednesday at Eden Gardens Stadium. KKR won the toss and opted to bowl first.
While MI have been eliminated from the tournament, KKR still have a narrow chance to make it to the playoffs. They need to win their remaining two games to reach the top four. Moreover, a defeat in tonight’s match will lead to their elimination.
The KKR vs MI match could only witness eight overs before getting hampered by rain. KKR made a brilliant start, reducing MI to 57/4. They picked a few crucial wickets in the powerplay to assert their authority over the match right from the start.
Weather forecast for the KKR vs MI match

According to weather.com, the temperature of Kolkata City will be 31° Celcius on Wednesday night. The sky will be cloudy and there is 30% chance of rain, which will reduce to 5% as the night progresses. Hence, some action is expected to be seen.
While a few games have been hampered by rain in IPL 2026, only one match was washed out. It was the clash between KKR and Punjab Kings on April 6.
Meanwhile, if the match ends with no result due to rain, it will be a big blow to KKR as they will be eliminated from the tournament. They will become the third team to be eliminated after Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians.
KKR are currently placed in the eighth spot in the points table with 11 points, having won five games and lost six out of 12 (one no result). Winning two games will give them 15 points and a slim chance to finish in the top four, depending on the result of other matches.
