The Indian Premier League (IPL) stands as the biggest T20 league in the world. The mega auction ahead of the IPL 2025 saw all teams revamping their squads.
Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer emerged as two of the hottest commodities, securing deals worth INR 27 crores and INR 26.75 crores respectively.
Notably, the tournament also gives fans the opportunity to witness MS Dhoni in action once a year. Recently, the hype around the competition has increased, with franchises like Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants announcing their captains for the next season.
A new report has now revealed details about the start and end dates of the IPL 2025 season, along with some key fixtures.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, IPL 2025 is set to begin on Saturday, March 22. As in previous years, the season opener will feature the defending champions. Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in first match of the season in Kolkata on March 22.
According to the same reports, the second game of the tournament will feature IPL 2024 runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad against Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal on Sunday, March 23. It will be an afternoon fixture.
The full IPL schedule has been awaited for the past few days, but the BCCI is yet to release it officially. However, the report states that the board has informally informed the franchises about the dates of key games.
The final of the tournament will be held at the defending champions’ home ground, the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on May 25. Apart from the 10 regular venues – Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Mullanpur, Delhi, and Jaipur, along with Kolkata and Hyderabad, this season’s matches will also be played in Guwahati and Dharamsala as well.
Hyderabad will host Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator in the playoffs, while Kolkata is expected to host Qualifier 2 and the final.
