KL Rahul took a diving catch to get rid of dangerous KKR opener Phil Salt.

In match No. 54 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) wicket-keeper and skipper KL Rahul took a stunning catch of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener Phil Salt at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on May 5.

After being asked to bat first, Kolkata had a perfect start as their openers Sunil Narine and Salt added 57 runs in the first three overs. With hosts Lucknow looking to break the opening partnership, captain Rahul brought overseas pacer Naveen-ul-Haq into the attack to bowl the fourth over.

In the very first ball of the over, aggressive opener Salt smashed a four towards the backward point. In the very next delivery, Lucknow pacer Naveen took his revenge by dismissing the KKR opener. Naveen bowled a leg-cutter delivery well wide of the off-stump, which made Salt go towards the ball. However, the Kolkata opener edged the ball while attempting to hit Naveen’s delivery.

In a brilliant display of athleticism, wicket-keeper Rahul took a stunning diving catch to his right behind the stumps. Rahul’s stunning glove work ended ‘Phil-STORM.’

Salt hammered 32 runs in just 14 balls, including five boundaries and one maximum during his stay at the crease. He along with Narine stitched a quick-fire stand of 21-ball 61 for the opening wicket.
