The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday announced the Indian Cricket Team’s squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against the South African Cricket Team. The series will be played from November 30 to December 6.
Captain Shubman Gill and his vice-captain Shreyas Iyer have been ruled out of the series and the leadership has been handed to KL Rahul. The keeper-batter has captained the side in all three formats in the past and him being a regular in ODIs has given him the nod ahead.
After missing the Australia tour due to injury, Rishabh Pant has made a comeback in the side. He will be the second keeper in the team alongside KL Rahul. Hardik Pandya still remains absent, meaning that he is yet to recover from the quadriceps injury.
In the absence of Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer, the BCCI has added Tilak Varma and Ruturaj Gaikwad to the team. Jasprit Bumrah was rested, while Ravindra Jadeja, who was dropped for the Australia series is back, in place of Axar Patel, whose name was missing.
Jadeja, Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy are the all-rounders, while Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli along with Dhruv Jurel retained their spots in the team.
Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana are the three pacers in the team with Mohammed Siraj getting dropped.
