KL Rahul-led India won the toss and opted to field first in the Vizag ODI.

India finally won the toss as KL Rahul tried his luck with his left hand. India’s stand-in captain, KL Rahul, opted to field as India invited South Africa to bat first in the series decider, which is currently underway at the Dr. YSR ACA-VDCA Stadium, Visakhapatnam. This is the first time India will be chasing in this series.

The moment India won the toss, there was elation in the Indian camp, with players seen celebrating. KL Rahul did not hold back either, as he expressed his joy with a grin and fist pump.

India finally win a toss

India have won the toss after two years in ODIs. The last time Men in Blue won a toss in ODI cricket was back in 2023 in the semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup. The former captain Rohit Sharma won the toss against New Zealand in the clash, which India won by 70 runs to qualify for the final.

Series decider in Visakhapatnam

The grin on the face of KL Rahul was not just because India won the toss after 20 matches, but it was also because the toss played a major role in the first two ODIs in Ranchi and Raipur. India had to bowl in the second innings when the dew troubled the bowlers.

India failed to defend a target of 359 in Raipur. They managed to win the match in Ranchi by only 17 runs after posting 349 runs on the board in the first innings. In Visakhapatnam, India needed to win the toss to minimise the impact of dew on the result.

When was the last time India won the toss in ODI cricket?

India last won the toss in ODI cricket in November 2023 against New Zealand in the semi-final of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
