Abhishek Sharma smashed his second T20I century on February 2.

India defeated England in the fifth T20I in Mumbai by 150 runs on Sunday, February 2 to seal the five-match series 4-1.

Batting first on a flat Wankhede pitch, Abhishek Sharma led the charge for India, hitting the second-fastest T20I century for the country in just 37 balls. The southpaw turned his hundred into an even bigger score, finishing with 135 off 54 balls, including seven fours and a record 13 sixes.

Thanks to his fireworks, India registered 95/1 at the end of six overs, which is their highest ever powerplay score in T20I cricket. He was named Player of the Match for his efforts.

The Punjab batter has been outstanding since 2024. His strong performances in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) with Sunrisers Hyderabad earned him a spot in the T20I squad.

Making his debut in June 2024, he has already scored two T20I centuries in less than a year. The southpaw will aim to keep his good form in IPL 2025 and push for a spot in India’s ODI squad in the future.

Following Abhishek’s sensational innings in the fifth T20I at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, senior Indian cricketer KL Rahul has expressed his admiration for the southpaw.

Star Indian opener KL Rahul took to Instagram to praise Abhishek, the Karnataka batsman poured his appreciation by calling Abhishek’s century in Mumbai the best T20 innings he has ever seen.

Rahul wrote, “Wow!! Abhishek Sharma. The best T20 innings I’ve watched. Unreal hitting.

India will now shift their focus on the three-match ODI series against England, which will start on Thursday, February 6, in Nagpur. The series will present a good opportunity for both teams to find their best combination before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which begins on February 19 in Pakistan.

Star batters Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul will be available for India while, Joe Root will mark his ODI return for England.

1st ODI – February 6, Thursday, Vidarbha

2nd ODI – February 9, Sunday, Cuttack

3rd ODI – February 12, Wednesday, Ahmedabad.
