KL Rahul's replacement for the remainder of IPL 2023 for LSG announced

KL Rahul's replacement announced for the remainder of IPL 2023
The Captain of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), KL Rahul suffered a hamstring injury in the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). In the hope to recover in a few days, KL Rahul was forced to leave the season mid-way because of his injury. Karun Nair has been announced as his replacement for the remainder of the season. Krunal Pandya is the leader of the group in his absence.
In a message shared on Instagram by KL Rahul, the cricketer felt gutted to have to leave the team during the critical juncture of the game. As mentioned in the post, he will be soon undergoing surgery on his thigh. The severity of his injury also means that he will not be taking part in the WTC final that is slated to take place from June 7 at the Oval. Thanking his fans and everyone for the support, KL Rahul said, "I want to express gratitude to each one of you - my fans, that gave me the strength to get back up, the LSG management and the BCCI for their promptness, and my teammates for their unwavering support during this difficult time."
“Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Friday named Karun Nair as a replacement for the injured KL Rahul for the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023," the BCCI released a statement.
Filling KL Rahul's shoes won't be an easy task as Rahul has been brilliant for the franchise so far. Having led the team to five wins, LSG are standing confidently in the second position. It will be a huge blow for the franchise especially, during the halfway through the tournament. Karun Nair has played for a few franchises in the past. He will bring in the experience of IPL and it will be interesting to see if he gets a go straightaway or not.
Karun has so far played 76 IPL games and has 1496 runs against his name. He will join LSG for INR 50 Lakh. He last played an IPL match in 2022 for Rajasthan Royals against Kolkata Knight Riders where he could manage to score only 13 runs in as many balls.
A stern challenge against the Titans in their home awaits LSG in their next fixture
After a washout in their last game against Chennai Super Kings and a defeat to RCB in the game before, LSG will hope to take a step ahead toward the playoffs. But standing against them will be Gujarat Titans at their home who will be a tough opposition to beat. Titans have recently won against Rajasthan Royals in what was a one-sided affair. They are almost through to the playoffs and beating the confident side of Hardik Pandya will be a tough challenge for Krunal Pandya & Co.
Moreover, the last time they both met in IPL 2023, GT defended a low score of 135 runs. While the game is set up for perfect revenge for LSG, GT's alarming form will be a huge hurdle in the way.
