Rahul Dravid was bowling medium pace during practice session along with Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah.
South Africa rattled Indian top-order in the first test match at Supersport Park in Centurion. Team India struggled to get the best start in the first session as South African pacer used the overcast conditions brilliantly. It was a delayed start in Centurion as the toss was delayed for 45 minutes and the start of the play was delayed for half hour. South African skipper Temba Bavuma won the toss and elected to bowl first.
During the rain delay, Indian team were having an extensive training session that also witnessed a unique moment. India head coach Rahul Dravid was bowling medium pace ahead of the toss which made Indian players go in splits. Dravid was seen bowling medium-pace which drew a loud cheer from the crowd present at Supersport Park in Centurion.

Before Rahul Dravid, it was Virat Kohli who was also bowling in the training session. Everyone present close to Dravid were having a great laugh at Dravid’s attempt at medium-pace bowling. Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah also shared a smile watching Dravid go with his full effort. Dravid was later spotted chatting along with captain Rohit Sharma and the support staff.

In 509 international matches, Rahul Dravid bowled only 51 overs in his career. Dravid was used as a part-time off-spin bowler in 8 ODI innings and 5 test innings. Dravid also took 4 ODI wickets and one test wicket in his career. Fans on social media were also surprised to look at Dravid bowling medium-pace in India’s practice.
This will be the first test series under Rahul Dravid’s second tenure as head coach. BCCI decided to re-appoint Dravid and the support staff in charge of their respective posts after their contract was over right after the ICC Cricket World Cup final against Australia at Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Rohit Sharma (5), Shubman Gill (2), and Yashasvi Jaiswal (17) have gone back to pavilion.
