ENG vs IND: What is Kuldeep Yadav’s record in test cricket in England ?

The Indian Cricket Team are pulling their socks up for the fourth test of the five-match series against the England Cricket Team. The encounter will begin on July 23 at Old Trafford, Manchester. Notably, it is a must-win game for the Shubman Gill-led side to keep their chances of series victory alive as the hosts lead the five-match series 2-1.

Ahead of the fourth test, India have faced multiple injury cases in their squad. To begin with, Nitish Kumar Reddy has suffered a knee injury and has been ruled out of the last two games. Pacer Arshdeep Singh sustained an injury during a training session and will not be available for the fourth test.

Pacer Akash Deep is also suffering from a back issue and might be unavailable for the next game. In such a scenario, there are reports that India might include Kuldeep Yadav in their playing XI for the next test. Yadav warmed the bench in the first three games.

What is Kuldeep Yadav’s record in test cricket in England?

Kuldeep has played only one test in England so far. During the 2018 tour, he was part of the test at the Lord’s. The left-arm spinner went wicketless in the encounter. He leaked 44 runs in the match as England won the encounter by an innings and 159 runs.

Overall, Yadav has played 13 tests in his career. He has clinched 56 wickets in 24 innings at an average of 22.16. The left-arm spinner has hunted four five-wicket hauls with a best bowling show of 5/40. He last played a test match against New Zealand in October 2024.

Meanwhile, India played spin all-rounder Washington Sundar in the last two games. He has clinched five wickets at an average of 28.80. In the second innings of the Lord’s test, Sundar clinched a crucial four-wicket haul.

Spin all-rounder Jadeja has done a marvellous job with the bat. However, he has hunted only three wickets while bowling. Yadav will add depth to India’s spin attack if he plays the Manchester test.
