Kumar Dharmasena warned Prasidh Krishna for his verbal altercation with Joe Root.
The fifth test between England Cricket Team and Indian Cricket Team is underway at The Oval, London. Kumar Dharmasena, who is officiating the game as one of the on-field umpires, had an extra work to do on day two of the game as he had to step in and stop a heated moment between Prasidh Krishna and Joe Root.
Prasidh Krishna and Joe Root were involved in a verbal altercation during second session on day two of the ongoing test. Both didn’t go easy on each other and in what was very uncharacteristic moment, England batter was seen fuming after the India pacer said something to him.
However, this didn’t stop Krishna as he kept murmuring something to the batter and umpire Dharmasena had to step in. He warned the pacer after the incident and when KL Rahul tried to defend his teammate, the umpire also warned him to watch their behaviour.
As Dharmasena lectured Krishna for his actions, Rahul intervened and asked, “What you want us to do. Be quiet? To this, Dharmasena replied, “Will you like any bowler come and walk to you. No you can’t do that. No, Rahul, we should not go on that way. We will discuss that at the end of the match. You can’t talk like that”.

Notably, Dharmasena was caught in a bit of controversy on day one of ongoing game. As England players appealed for an LBW dismissal for Sai Sudharsan in the first innings, he signalled them about an inside edge while adjudging him not out. Hence, England did not take a DRS. As a result, many fans slammed him for helping the hosts save their review.

Meanwhile, Root was dismissed by Mohammed Siraj for 29 runs in the first innings. India made a stunning comeback with the ball after openers Zak Crawley (64) and Ben Duckett (43) stitched an opening partnership of 92 runs. Earlier, India piled up 224/10 in the first innings.
