What happened when India faced Pakistan in a T20I match last time?

The India vs Pakistan match is scheduled to take place on 14th September in the Asia Cup 2025.

India and Pakistan are all set to lock horns with each other in match six of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. The game between the two arch-rivals will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Sunday (14th September).

Both India and Pakistan will be entering the game on a high note as they registered big victories in their previous games. While the Suryakumar Yadav-led side beat the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by nine wickets, the Salman Agha-led side thrashed Oman by 93 runs. 

The clash will be extremely important for both sides as a win for either of the teams will take them to the Super Four stage. This is because both Oman and the UAE have lost their opening games, and the winning team will register their second straight win of the Asia Cup 2025. 

India and Pakistan have clashed in many enthralling battles in the T20Is over the years. While the games have gone down to the wire, it has been the Men in Blue, who have registered the maximum number of wins in the head-to-head battles. 

What happened when India faced Pakistan in a T20I match last time?

This will be the first time in seven months that India and Pakistan will be playing against each other. Their last encounter came during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which the Rohit Sharma-led side won with ease at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. 

However, if we talk about T20Is, the two arch-rivals clashed in the format last year during the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. It was India, that emerged victorious during that clash as they snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, beating Pakistan by just six runs. 

Asked to bat first, India posted just 119 runs on the board on a tough New York pitch. Rishabh Pant, who batted at three, top-scored with an innings of 42 runs. Axar Patel (20) and Rohit Sharma (13) contributed as well and the rest of the batters managed single-digit scores. 

In the chase, Pakistan were cruising and were 73/2 with Mohammad Rizwan (31) playing a brilliant hand. However, Jasprit Bumrah changed the course of the game with his magical spell that reduced Pakistan to 107 for seven in no time. 

The Men in Green could manage only 113 for seven as India won the game by six runs. Bumrah bagged three wickets, while Hardik Pandya picked two. Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel were also amongst the wickets.
