Liam Dawson has been added to England’s squad for the fourth test against India.
The England Cricket Team, on Tuesday, July 15, announced their squad for fourth test of the five-match series against the Indian Cricket Team. The encounter will start on July 23 at the Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester. England have added spinner Liam Dawson to their squad for the penultimate game of the series.
Dawson will be making a comeback to the test team after eight years. He last played a test match against South Africa in July 2017. The left-arm orthodox spinner has been added to the team as replacement Shoaib Bashir.
Bashir broke his finger during the third test at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. As a result, the right-arm spinner was ruled out test series against India. Dawson earned a call-up to the test squad after his impressive performance in England’s Country Championship 2025.

Liam Dawson is a left-arm orthodox spinner, who also has the ability to score with the bat. He has played three tests so far. Dawson has clinched seven wickets across five innings at an average of 42.57. His best bowling figures in an innings were 2/34.
With the bat, he has scored 84 runs in six innings with a top knock of 66 runs. He made his test debut in an encounter against India in December 2016 and played his last test in 2017. Dawson has also played six ODIs and 14 T20Is for England. He plays for Hampshire in the domestic circuit.
