List of all teams qualified for T20 World Cup 2028

12 teams have secured their qualifications for the T20 World Cup 2028.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed the qualification pathway for the Men’s T20 World Cup 2028, co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
A key takeaway is that all eight teams advancing to the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2026 have secured automatic direct berths for 2028. This rule rewards consistent performance in the previous edition’s second phase.
The Super 8 qualifiers from 2026 were finalised on February 18, 2026, following Pakistan’s dominant 102-run victory over Namibia in Colombo, which completed the lineup.
Which teams qualified for T20 World Cup 2028?

The eight teams that progressed to the Super 8 are: India and Pakistan (Group A), Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe (Group B), West Indies and England (Group C), and South Africa and New Zealand (Group D).
In total, 12 teams receive direct qualification for the 2028 edition. Alongside the eight Super 8 teams from 2026, Australia gain automatic entry as co-host, in spite of not reaching the Super 8 in 2026.
The remaining three spots go to the next highest-ranked sides in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings as of March 9, 2026, which will be the day after the 2026 final. As none of the lower ranked teams are featuring in the remainder of the T20 World Cup competition, the rankings list will remain unchanged until the end of the marquee event.
Hence, Bangladesh, who boycotted the 2026 edition, will be able to feature in the next season. Afghanistan, who reached the semi-finals last year, will also play the competition directly in 2028. The final team to directly go through is Ireland, who boast the best ranking points . Ireland lost to Australia and Sri Lanka, but won handsomely against Oman.
The final eight places in the T20 World Cup 2028 tournament will be filled through regional qualifiers, distributed based on regional competitive strength across continents like Asia, Africa, Europe, and Americas. Top teams to watch out for will be Nepal, Italy, Scotland, Netherlands, Canada, UAE and Uganda.
