Litton Das captained Bangladesh in a 3-0 T20I series win over West Indies.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) appears to have found a potential solution for T20I captaincy in veteran wicket-keeper batter Litton Das.

The stand-in skipper recently stated that he is open to taking up the captaincy for a long term if BCB offers him the role. His comments came after leading Bangladesh to a historic 3-0 T20I series win against West Indies.

Das led Bangladesh in the absence of regular skipper Najmul Shanto, who was ruled out of the series due to an injury.

Bangladesh’s brilliant performance on the Caribbean shores has come as a relief for the BCB who are reportedly looking to finding a permanent leader in the shortest format after Shanto’s reluctance to lead the T20I side.

Litton Das on taking up full-time captaincy

Litton Das expressed his willingness to take on the T20I captaincy, acknowledging that enjoyed the role in Bangladesh’s first-ever T20I series in West Indies.

Litton said, “As far as captaincy is concerned, if the BCB asks me to lead then I am ready to do it because there is no reason [not to] and I am enjoying it.

Litton highlighted that his mantra of success against the West Indies revolved around simplicity. He encouraged his players to enjoy their cricket.

The wicketkeeper added, “As a captain I never said that you give everything [on the field]. All I said was that they [West Indies] are a better side and on their day they can destroy at their home ground and so the information was like we will go and enjoy the cricket.

Litton Das also remarked that he is trying to work out things in his batting with batting coach Mohammad Salahuddin.

He concluded, “As far as batting is concerned I am trying and as a batter probably had a low phase in three formats. But sir is helping a lot and the thing is every player is free with him and he knows us from our childhood and these things helps us at the back of the mind, hopefully I’ll get over the lean patch soon.
