Blow for New Zealand! Lockie Ferguson RULED OUT of IND vs NZ T20I series due to injury
Lockie Ferguson played first two IND vs NZ T20Is for New Zealand.
New Zealand have suffered a major setback ahead of the fourth T20I against India, as fast bowler Lockie Ferguson has been ruled out of the remainder of the series due to a right-calf injury. The pacer is expected to need around another week to recover before returning to action.
India have dominated the ongoing T20I series, winning the first three matches to take an unassailable 3-0 lead. The visitors started the series with a successful chase of 226 runs in the opening game and continued their winning run in the next two matches.
The Indian batters have put New Zealand‘s bowling attack under pressure throughout the series. With the fourth T20I scheduled to take place at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday, October 30, the hosts will look to put up a better performance in front of their home crowd.
However, Ferguson’s injury adds to New Zealand’s concerns ahead of the remaining matches, with the team also managing injuries to other fast bowlers.

Ferguson experienced pain in his right calf during the second T20I at Hagley Oval. Subsequent scans confirmed a low-grade tear, and New Zealand Cricket confirmed on Thursday that the pacer would miss the remainder of the series. However, he is expected to be fit for the ODI series.
Matt Fisher has been named as Ferguson’s replacement for the final two T20Is. Fisher featured in the third match and will continue with the New Zealand squad.
New Zealand head coach Rob Walter expressed his disappointment over the injuries to Ferguson and Matt Henry.
“We’re gutted for Lockie and Matt,” Walter said in a release. “Injuries are part and parcel of international cricket, but it doesn’t make it any easier when you have to miss games.”
New Zealand will now hope to finish the T20I series on a positive note before shifting their focus to the upcoming ODI series against India.
