Afghanistan’s lowest three totals have come against India.
In the last decade, Afghanistan Cricket Team have emerged as one of the strongest sides among Asian countries. Although they have not played in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) so far, they are among the only 12 international teams that play test matches.
Afghanistan played their first-ever test match in 2018 against India. They lost the clash by an innings and 262 runs. In March 2019, they clashed with Ireland in their second test and bagged a victory. They also clashed with Bangladesh in the same year and defeated them.
While Afghanistan have clinched a handful of victories in test cricket, they have also suffered big defeats. On many occasions, they suffered big batting collapses and lost their batters like a house of cards. If we look at stats, Afghanistan’s three lowest totals have come against India. 5. 120 vs West Indies, Lucknow, 2019

In November 2019, Afghanistan clashed with West Indies in a test match at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. In the one-off test, West Indies bowled out Afghanistan for 187 runs in the 1st innings.
Later, they posted 277, earning a lead of 90 runs. WI bowled them out for 120 runs in the second innings. This is Afghanistan’s fifth-lowest total in test cricket. West Indies won the game like a walk in the park, chasing down a 33-run target by nine wickets.
4. 115 vs Bangladesh, Mirpur, 2023
Afghanistan’s fourth-lowest total in test cricket came against Bangladesh in June 2023, when he suffered a batting collapse for just 115 runs. Batting first, the hosts Bangladesh posted 382/10 in the first innings with a century by Najmul Hossain Shanto.
They bowled out the visitors for 146 runs. In the second innings, Bangladesh declared at 425/4d in the second innings, setting a big target of 662 runs. The Hashmatullah Shahidi & Co. succumbed to the pressure and were bowled out for just 115 runs.
3. 112 vs India, New Chandigarh, 2026

Afghanistan’s third-lowest total came against India in a test match in June 2026. It was the second-ever test between the two sides. Opting to bat first, Shubman Gill & Co. declared batting at 564/8d in the first innings. KL Rahul and Shubman Gill hammered centuries for the side.
India bowled out Afghanistan for 152 and 112 in the next two innings by enforcing a follow-on. While India bagged their biggest-ever victory by an innings and 300 runs, Afghanistan registered a humiliating total in red-ball cricket in the final innings.
2. 109 vs India, Bengaluru, 2018
Afghanistan’s two lowest totals came in the same match against India. It was the first-ever test between both sides in 2018. Electing to bat first, Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan hammered centuries as India posted 474 runs in the first innings. In response, the Asghar Afghan-led Afghanistan were bowled out for 109 runs. This is still their second-ever lowest total in test cricket.
1. 103 vs India, Bengaluru, 2018
In the above match, India bowled out Afghanistan for 103 runs in the second innings after enforcing a follow-on. Hasmatullah Shahidi scored the highest score of an unbeaten 36 runs in the clash as none of the batters could score a fifty.
Ravindra Jadeja and Umesh Yadav were the top wicket-takers with four and three wickets respectively. On one end, Afghanistan scripted history by playing their first-ever test match. On the other end, they also earned the unwanted record of their worst total in test cricket.
