Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) shared an intriguing post on their social media, hinting that they have completed one of the biggest trades ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini auction, probably getting pacer Mohammed Shami from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
For the upcoming season, Mohammed Shami will most likely be joining Rishabh Pant at LSG. LSG gain world-class firepower from the Indian bowler, who is renowned for his deadly seam movement, precise accuracy, and unparalleled ability to strike with the new ball.
One of India’s most seasoned fast bowlers, Mohammed Shami, has once again made headlines regarding his IPL prospects. Before IPL 2026 auction, a number of teams apparently expressed a strong desire to sign Mohammed Shami.
Notably, SRH purchased Shami for ₹10 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah. The 35-year-old bowler could only take six wickets in seven games with an economy rate above 11, so his performance for the SRH in the previous season fell short of expectations.
Shami is still one of India’s best fast bowlers, having played in 64 tests, 108 ODIs, and 25 T20Is. He is renowned for his deadly seam movement and capacity to perform under duress. In international cricket, he has taken more than 450 wickets.

LSG took to their social media to post a cryptic photo featuring the pitch map of Mohammed Shami’s deliveries to England’s Ben Stokes during the India vs England match at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
Sharing Stokes’ picture, the franchise wrote in the caption, “Just thinking about this Ekana moment for no reason 🤭.”
This has hinted that LSG has pulled off one of the best trades in IPL history, and we will see Shami playing under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant in Lucknow.
With 133 wickets in 119 games, Shami continues to be one of the most reliable wicket-takers in the IPL history, and his record speaks for itself. The Bengal fast bowler’s peak performance was in the 2022 and 2023 seasons while he was a member of the Gujarat Titans (GT).
