LSG pacer Mark Wood had a great start of his IPL 2023 by picking up 5 wickets against Delhi Capitals.

Lucknow Super Giants' pace bowler Mark Wood is flying back to England to be with her partner. Mark Wood is expecting his second baby at the end of May and he will miss the remainder of the IPL 2023 for Lucknow Super Giants. Mark Wood played a crucial role in Lucknow’s pace department in the initial stages. Wood has been suffering injuries as well throughout his time in India for the Indian Premier League. Mark Wood has not played any game in the IPL 2023 after 15th April. Lucknow Super Giants have dropped a video on Twitter with a special message from the man himself before leaving India.

Wood played only 4 games for Lucknow in IPL 2023

In the video, Lucknow Super Giants players are seen clicking pictures with Mark Wood and congratulating him for his new upcoming role as a father. In the video, Mark Wood also shared a message for Lucknow fans. Wood said, “For the birth of my daughter. So sadly, but for a good reason to go home. Hopefully, I might be able to come back and you can see me play a game. I have played in four games and I managed to get a few wickets. But hopefully I can charge in again for everyone soon. It’s a great team, I really loved the team”. Wood also said that one last push is needed to get the team into the playoffs.

English pacer Mark Wood played only 4 games in the IPL 2023 and he picked up 11 wickets. Wood’s spell against Delhi Capitals is still fresh in LSG fans memory. Wood picked up 5 wickets in his 4 overs against DC and conceded only 14 runs. Wood is also part of England’s plan for the Ashes, so this may be good news for England fans as well. The rest of the English players are still part of the IPL and they will only leave when the season gets over.
