Lucknow Super Giants made their IPL debut in the 2022 season.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are one of the two newest teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise became a part of the league in 2022. IPL management decided to make the tournament a 10-team event. As a result, Gujarat Titans (GT) and LSG were added as two new franchises in the 2022 season.

The Super Giants’ home ground is Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. KL Rahul led the side in their first season. LSG showed wonderful performance by reaching the playoffs in the first two seasons they participated in 2022 and 2023. However, they lost the Eliminator matches in both of the seasons.

However, although Lucknow Super Giants repeatedly failed to play an IPL final in their first three seasons, they have been one of the dominating sides in the tournament. They are a strong side at their home stadium and their opponents often find it challenging to defeat them in Lucknow.

Along with dominance at their home ground, LSG are also known for forging gigantic team totals in the IPL. They have reached 200+ totals multiple times. Below is the list of the top five highest team totals they’ve registered in the IPL.

Top 5 highest team totals by Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL:

5. 213/4 vs CSK (IPL 2024)

In the 15th match of the season, RCB posted a gigantic total of 212/2 batting first; thanks to fabulous half-centuries by Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, and Glenn Maxwell.

During the dramatic chase, LSG lost their four batters cheaply. However, Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran slammed half-centuries to shock the Chinnaswamy Crowd in Bengaluru. The match went to the final ball where LSG batsman Avesh Khan managed to grab a single needed for victory off Harshal Patel’s delivery.
