Madan Lal leaves out Sanju Samson, names 2 India wicket-keepers for World Cup 2023

Former cricketer Madan Lal chooses his ideal wicket-keepers for team India in the upcoming World Cup 2023
Former cricketer and member of the historic 1983 World Cup-winning Indian squad, Madan Lal, recently shared his insights on the ideal wicket-keepers for Team India at the upcoming World Cup in 2023. Known for his sharp cricketing mind, he highlighted in an interview that two talented wicket-keepers have caught his attention with their impressive performances. Additionally, he mentioned that Sanju Samson might not make the cut for the position behind the stumps.
Having observed the recent performances of Indian wicket-keepers, Madan Lal narrowed down his choices to two standout players who he believes can make a significant impact in the World Cup. The young and dynamic duo have impressed him with their skills and adaptability in various match situations. He hinted at the presence of promising candidates who have been consistently proving their mettle on the field.
Keeping in mind the significance of the wicket-keepers role in crucial moments He highlighted that KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan are the wicket-keepers he believes can make a significant impact.
In his statement, Madan Lal emphasized when asked on choosing between KL Rahul, Sanju Samson, and Ishan Kishan as wicket-keepers for the World Cup,
Madan said, “It is quite a debate. The thing with Rahul is that he has just recovered; he will play matches, and we will get to know about his form. Maybe we can send two wicket-keepers for the World Cup,KL Rahul and Ishan. Ishan is playing really well and has made a case for himself. We will see how Rahul plays. According to me, the team management will go with Rahul.”

KL Rahul has displayed remarkable growth with his wicket-keeping skills and has proven to be an explosive batsman in limited-overs cricket, and also a great option for team India at No.5 position. His blistering batting combined with his improved glove work has been instrumental in India’s victories in recent times. His adaptability to different match situations and his fearlessness while facing any bowling attack make him an invaluable asset in the World Cup campaign.
Despite being relatively new to international cricket, Kishan’s performances have garnered attention, and he has exhibited immense potential. His consistency in both batting and wicket-keeping has impressed the cricket fraternity, making him a promising choice for the World Cup squad.
Notably, Madan Lal’s exclusion of Sanju Samson from his ideal wicket-keeper list raises eyebrows. While Samson possesses immense talent, his lack of consistency has been a concern. The World Cup demands performers who can deliver consistently, and this aspect tipped the scales in favor of Rahul and Kishan.
Madan Lal believes Indian bowling have to perform as a unit
Furthermore, Madan Lal also stressed the significance of India’s bowling attack performing as a cohesive unit during the tournament. He believes that Jasprit Bumrah is not the only bowler who can bring the cup, it’s going to take the whole bowling unit to perform well in team India’s success.
He emphasized,“It is good that he is going to Ireland. He will get to play matches and get to know where he stands with regard to his fitness. He will have to play matches and maintain continuity. It is really important that he plays the World Cup and should not take any unnecessary chances. Though Bumrah is an asset for us, one bowler cannot change everything. Our bowling will have to perform as a unit. If they do not do well for us, it would become difficult for us,” said Madan to ANI. Clearly, he envisions the bowlers playing a pivotal role in India’s quest for World Cup glory.
