Mahmudullah made his international cricket debut in 2007.
Bangladesh all-rounder Mahmudullah announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday, March 12. Mahmudullah has decided to pull the curtains on his 18-year-long career that saw him represent Bangladesh in 430 games across formats.
Mahmudullah announced his retirement after Bangladesh were eliminated from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in the group stage without a single win in the campaign.
He followed the path of his teammate Mushfiqur Rahim, who recently called time on his ODI career. Earlier, Mahmudullah requested the board not to consider him for a central contract beyond February 2025.
He remains the only Bangladesh player to have scored three centuries in ODI World Cups, with two coming in the 2015 edition and one in 2023.
Often deployed as a finisher at No. 6 or lower, Mahmudullah thrived in ODI cricket, scoring 5,689 runs at an average of 36.46.
