India will tour Sri Lanka for two-match Test series in August.

India’s squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka is expected to be announced soon, with the selectors awaiting final medical updates on several players. The series will mark India‘s next assignment in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle, making player availability a key factor in the selection process.

Several first-choice players are currently recovering from injuries, leaving the team management and selectors to assess their fitness before finalising the squad. While some players are progressing well in their rehabilitation, others remain unavailable for the opening stages of the tour.

Journalist Abhishek Tripathi of Dainik Jagran has shared the latest fitness and availability update for five Indian players, including Jasprit Bumrah and Washington Sundar, ahead of the Sri Lanka Test series.

According to Abhishek Tripathi, Washington Sundar will be unavailable for the first Test, while his availability for the second Test will depend on his recovery and fitness assessment.

Jasprit Bumrah’s availability is still subject to fitness. The pacer will keep resting till July 30 and thereafter will report to the BCCI COE for evaluation before a decision is taken regarding his participation in the series.

The news is better for Sai Sudharsan, who, although still subject to fitness issues, is recovering well. His availability will depend on medical clearance before the series.

On the other hand, Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy are out of selection. The absence of these two means the Indian selectors would have to consider other options in pace bowling for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka.

The first Test is set to begin on August 15 and will be played till August 19, and the second Test will be played from August 23-27. Both matches will be part of India’s campaign in the ICC WTC 2025-27 cycle. The squad announcement is expected once the selectors receive the final fitness reports of the players currently under assessment.

What is the latest fitness update on Jasprit Bumrah?

Bumrah will rest until July 30 before reporting to the BCCI Centre of Excellence, with his availability subject to fitness.

When will the first Test start?

The first Test will be played from August 15 to 19.
