India will play three ODIs against England.

India are on a tour of the UK for the white-ball series. It started with two T20Is against Ireland. The Indian team will now play a five-match T20I series and a three-match ODI series against England.

The Men in Blue suffered a humiliating defeat in the T20I series against Ireland, marking their first-ever loss to the hosts. However, they are now set up for the English challenge. The ENG vs IND T20I series will begin on July 1.

Moreover, the ODI matches will be played on July 14, 16, and 20, in Birmingham, Cardiff and London, respectively. India played their last ODI series against Afghanistan, which they won convincingly 3-0. Skipper Shubman Gill was the Player of the Series in that.

Shubman Gill and Co. are now gearing up for the series against England, but injuries remain a major hurdle for the team. Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya missed the Afghanistan series due to injuries. Hardik has also been ruled out of the England tour, while Virat’s return remains uncertain.

Meanwhile, Nitish Reddy sustained a quadricep injury during the Afghanistan series. Here’s the update regarding his return for the ODIs against England.

The player viewed as a potential backup to Hardik Pandya, one of India’s finest white-ball all-rounders, has been plagued by injuries, keeping him away from competitive cricket.

Nitish Reddy is being groomed as Pandya’s backup, especially for the 50-over format. However, his body has not supported him in this quest so far. Just when Reddy began looking like the perfect fit for the role, he sustained a quadricep injury in the 3rd IND vs AFG ODI.

He was not part of the second ODI, but he made his comeback in the third. However, after the match on June 20, when he was set to be a part of the T20I squad going to Ireland, he was ruled out due to the left quadricep injury.

It has now been reported by Times of India journalist Sahil Malhotra that Reddy’s injury might keep him unavailable for the England assignment as well. Although the pull was minor, it was enough to sideline him. He has been advised rest and is yet to begin the rehabilitation.

The management is closely monitoring his progress and is expecting to have him back with the team sometime next month. The T20I series against Zimbabwe seems like a possible return date. Suryansh Shedge replaced him in the squad.

The 23-year-old batting all-rounder, Reddy, claimed two wickets in the two matches against Afghanistan. He did not get an opportunity to bat. His addition to the ODI team adds balance to the side with explosive finishing and a sixth-bowling option.
