Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) locked horns on Sunday, April 12, in match 20 of the Indian Premier League 2026, which took place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. In the encounter, Rohit Sharma sustained a hamstring injury.
In the challenging 241-run chase, Rohit opened the batting with Ryan Rickelton. The duo gave a brilliant start to MI’s batting. However, Rohit suffered a hamstring injury in the sixth over.
As a result, he retired hurt and left the field after scoring an unbeaten 19 runs off 13 deliveries. Later, he did not arrive at the field to resume his batting.

The MI opener is set to undergo scans for his hamstring injury. Moreover, the results of the scans will decide whether he will be part of the next game. Hence, Rohit’s participation in MI‘s next match against the Punjab Kings on April 16 is doubtful.
If Rohit misses the next game, it will be a big blow to the team as they will need a strong replacement as an opener. Across four games, Rohit has scored 78, 35, 5, and 19*.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians will aim for a big comeback in their next game. They lost their previous game against RCB by 18 runs, failing to chase a 241-run target. The Hardik Pandya & Co. have suffered three defeats in a row.
Out of four games, the five-time champions have won only one and lost three. With two points, they are placed in the eighth spot in the points table. The MI vs PBKS clash will take place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, April 16.
