Major update on Virat Kohli's fitness clearance ahead of England ODIs

Virat Kohli has been named in squad for England ODIs on subject to fitness clearance.
The Indian Cricket Team is all set for a key white-ball tour of England in July 2026. The tour will include five T20Is first, followed by a three-match ODI series from July 14 to July 19, 2026, with matches at Edgbaston (Birmingham), Sophia Gardens (Cardiff), and Lord’s (London).
This series is very important for India as it will act as a major preparation step before the ICC ODI World Cup 2027, which is scheduled to be played from October to November, and it will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
India have already announced their ODI squad for England, led by Shubman Gill, with Shreyas Iyer as vice-captain. The squad have plenty of experienced players like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel.
Virat Kohli completes fitness assessment at BCCI Centre of Excellence

Virat Kohli is also in India’s 15-member ODI squad for the England tour, but was declared as subject to fitness clearance. As per the reports in Sports Tak, Kohli travelled to Bengaluru to undergo his fitness assessment at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE). He has reportedly completed the assessment and is likely to be given the green signal to be available for the England ODI series.
However, there has been no official confirmation yet from the BCCI, but chances are pretty high that Kohli will be participating in the England ODI series.
