Mandeep Singh ends long association with Punjab, moves to Tripura ahead of Indian domestic cricket season

Mandeep Singh played three T20Is for the Indian cricket team in 2016.
In a significant development, Indian cricketer Mandeep Singh has confirmed that he will play for Tripura in the upcoming domestic season. This ends his 14-year-long association with Punjab.
Mandeep made his debut for Punjab in 2010. The 32-year-old cricketer also led Punjab to their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title in the 2023/24 domestic season.
So far, the right-handed batter has played 99 First-Class (FC) matches. Mandeep has scored 6448 runs in red-ball cricket at an average of 47.76. He has registered 15 hundreds and 34 half-centuries in First-Class cricket.
In List A cricket, Mandeep has 131 appearances, in which he scored 3855 runs at an average of 36.71, with four centuries and 28 half-centuries.

In a heartfelt statement that he posted on his social media, Mandeep Singh expressed gratitude for having an “amazing journey” with the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), which he had joined as a junior cricketer. Singh further said that his best moment was lifting the Syed Mushtaq Ali title as a captain.
“I have had the most amazing journey at PCA from junior level all the way to senior level whilst also having the best fortune of being the Winning Captain of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for 2023-2024,” Mandeep wrote on Instagram.
“However, after a lot of deliberation, I think it’s time for me to open a new chapter in my career. I have decided that now is the right time to go ahead and play cricket for Tripura in the upcoming domestic season,” he added.

The 32-year-old further thanked PCA secretary Dilsher Khanna and legendary Indian cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh for their constant support over the years.
Mandeep added that he aims to achieve many more milestones with his new domestic side, Tripura.
“I want to extend my appreciation to Dilsher Khanna, secretary of PCA, Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh, for their constant support throughout the years. I would also like to thank the members of PCA Management and to the staff that have been by my side over the years.
“I am excited for the new beginnings at Tripura and to celebrate the many milestones and achievements that are yet to come,” Singh concluded.
