Pakistan Cricket Team are set to clash with Sri Lanka in their last match of the Super 8 round in T20 World Cup 2026. The result of the encounter will decide Pakistan and New Zealand’s future in the tournament.
There is a narrow competition between Pakistan and New Zealand to book a berth in the semi-final from Group 2. England, after winning three games in a row, have already booked a berth in the semis from this pool. Sri Lanka have been eliminated after facing defeats in two encounters in a row.
England take the top spot in the points table with six points, followed by New Zealand with three points and a Net Run Rate (NRR) of +1.390. Pakistan team are next with one point and an NRR of -0.461. However, they have one more game left while Black Caps have played all of their three matches in the Super Eight Round.
Hence, Salman Agha & Co. have a chance to book a berth in the semis, provided they outplay Sri Lanka by enough margin and finish with a better NNR than New Zealand. If they lose the clash, they will be eliminated from the tournament and the Mitchell Santner-led side will be the second semi-finalists from their pool.
