England are in the trenches after losing the first two tests of Ashes 2025-26 in Perth and Brisbane, and there are no signs of things improving. The visitors have received another blow before the third test in Adelaide as their frontline quick Mark Wood has been ruled out of the series.

The 35-year-old will miss the remainder of the series due to a knee injury that keeps resurfacing. He was part of the XI in the first test, where he went wicketless and then was ruled out of the second match with a hope of him getting fit for rest of the matches.

Mark Wood experienced the issue with his knee in the Perth test, which kept him out of the Brisbane test. The pacer was doubtful for the Perth test as well, but managed to make his way into the playing XI. But the issue has resurfaced, leaving the team management with no option but to look beyond him.

Mark Wood will travel back to England to start his rehabilitation journey. Notably, the fast bowler underwent knee surgery earlier this year and made his comeback in the Ashes 2025-26
