Mark Wood dismissed Kirk McKenzie for 12 runs in the third test of West Indies’ first innings.

England ace pacer Mark Wood knocked over the middle stump of West Indies batter Kirk McKenzie in the ongoing final match of the three-game Test series at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Friday, July 26.

After being asked to field first, England pacers Gus Atkinson and Wood helped England hold control over the West Indies in the first session on Day 1 of the ongoing third test. West Indies openers Mikyle Louis and skipper Kraigg Brathwaite stitched an opening stand of 76 runs before right-arm speedster Atkinson removed Louis for a gritty 61-ball 26 in the 22nd over of the first innings.

Atkinson struck once again at the stroke of lunch when he dismissed visitor batter Alick Athanaze on the last ball of the morning session.

The incident happened during the 25th over of the Windies’ first innings. England speedster Wood bowled a full-length delivery that swung in sharply towards batter McKenzie. Wood, who delivered the ball at a high pace of 146 kmph, beat McKenzie’s inside edge, and the ball dismantled the middle stump, knocking it out of the ground.

At the time of writing, the visitors were 97/3 at lunch, with captain Kraigg Brathwaite scoring 57 runs off 79 balls.
